Hi my name's Jackson. You can call me "Jack" if you want,
or even "One-Eyed Jack" because it's true... I only have one eye.

I'm a real big loverboy. I also think that I'm a lap dog,
even though I weigh almost 100 lbs.

I'm an Anatolian Shepherd, which is an extra-large breed, sort of like a Mastiff crossed with a German Shepherd. Generally my breed is very smart, loyal, and sometimes stubborn. I personally am really friendly and I have some mellow moments, but at other times I like to run and jump around like the youngster that I am. (I was born in September 06.)

I like other dogs, especially giant-sized like me! I'm pretty good on a leash but I'm still a bit of a puppy so I'm learning more every day. Because of my eye situation, I don't want to live in a home with small kids since they could startle me easily. Teenagers or older would be just great though.

The message on the wall says it all!

Why would someone dump me?

I'm Tyler and I got a second chance at a happy life...
now I need a forever family of my own!

Do ya like my cute freckled face?

My name is Tucker and I also got a second chance at a happy life...
now I need a forever family of my own!
Tyler is my brother and it would be really cool if we could stay together,
but if not, a good family to love me always will be just fine.

Hey there! We are new to the Happy Dogs world and we are happy now, probably for the first time in our little lives. Finally we know what it is like to have good meals every day, fresh clean water, cool dry air to live in, and be rid of nasty things like fleas and tapeworms. (Those are SO nasty!) We were not at all cared for when we were first born. Thank heavens the rescue people took us in, or else we were going to be dumped in the street. Nice, huh? Yeah, humans can be really awful but now we know the "good" ones and they will take great care of us!

We're named after some cool places (no pun intended) and we are just now starting to look for great families to adopt us and love us forever. If you might want to meet us or give us a responsible forever home, please send us a note. Oh, it would be good if you are used to really big dogs and if you know how to housetrain a puppy. We are just babies and are starting to learn things from scratch! But we'll be big dogs before you know it, and it would be fabulous to have families of our own.

Love,

Introducing... POWDER!

Hi everyone, my name is Powder and I'm a fabulous Siberian Husky. I'm a young adult at around 3 years of age, and I'm pretty big for a girl (about 70 lbs.) As many Huskies like to do, I can escape a fence - my method was by climbing it (if it's short enough), and I was often out loose and running around looking for adventures. My owner didn't care very much about me and when I was picked up by "Animal Control" and taken to the pound... well, he didn't really give a hoot about me and just left me there, even though he must have known that I might not make it out alive! This hurt my feelings but the super-nice people at the pound worked hard to make sure I had a safe place to go, where I'd have more time to find a great home. So I found myself joining Happy Dogs Rescue, and now the rest of my (great!) life will begin.

You know, it's not the fault of the pound's volunteers and employees that I ran out of time there... it's the stupid people who don't care for their pets properly and love and keep them for their whole lives who are to blame. If only those people were more responsible and loving, then sweet dogs like me - and cats - wouldn't wind UP in the pound in the first place! But enough of my rantings. That's all behind me now!

The bad news is that I just found out that I have something called "heartworms." It's a serious problem and I need to get some pretty expensive medical treatment so that I can be healthy and then be up for adoption. I hope that people will see my gorgeous blue eyes and my sweet and loving personality and will want to help me get the treatment. If enough kind and caring folks will donate to Happy Dogs Rescue specifically to help me get the treatment, then I will be on my way, and I'll be forever grateful!

Once I'm rid of the scary heartworms, I'll be looking for a home who knows what Huskies are like and won't let me ever get out loose or lost. I'd really do best with a backyard fence that is 6' tall since that is too high for me to climb and get over; that kind of fence would keep me safe when I am outside for potty breaks! And because I do have this luscious fluffy fur coat, my new family will need to understand that I need regular brushing and not mind the shedding that I will do, a couple times a year or more. I promise to make it worth your while... I really am a wonderful girl who just deserves a chance. I've quickly learned how to be "housetrained" and I walk really well on a leash. Hardly any pulling, which is pretty amazing since most Siberians really loveto pull! I like other dogs, especially dogs my size, but I don't really care for cats. Please think about me and consider giving me a great home, or helping me get my heartworm treatment!

AND Introducing... ALVIN!

Hey there! My name is Alvin and I too am a Siberian Husky. I came from the same small-town dog pound that Powder did, but I didn't know her until we met there. My previous owners let me run all over town and since I'm a young male, of COURSE I got into trouble, haha. I just couldn't help it! The Animal Control officer picked me up when I was trying to make "friends" with a sexy German Shepherd, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I wound up behind bars for awhile, and was lucky that the volunteers there helped me move out to this great rescue. Now I've been neutered and had all my "shots" and also lucky for me, I do not have heartworms, like my poor friend Powder does. So I'm ready for a new home any time now!

I'd like a home who is used to Huskies, especially ornery, feisty ones! Yup, I'm kind of rowdy and active because I'm such a youngster, barely a year old in fact. But I'm fun-loving and I like other dogs and love to romp and play, both inside and outside. (I prefer air conditioning on these hot summer days though!) I need to learn not to pull so hard on the leash, but it's just my instinct to pull, pull, pull! But I'm smart and I'm learning quickly. I love to eat and my foster mom says that is a great thing since I can get "treats" when I do good things! Like Powder, I too am an escape artist sometimes and I can climb or jump or otherwise figure my way out of chain-link fence situations. What I really need is a wood privacy fence, that is 6' tall. I know there are a lot of these out there because I've seen them when I was out running the streets. Maybe someday soon I'll get to see the inside of those nice backyards and have safe outdoor time with my new family... I sure hope so. And then maybe I could hang out on the couch and watch a movie. Boy, that would be the best!

Anyway, I'm ready now to find some people to really love and adore me. I had all my "vet stuff" done and I even got a microchip so that I can never get lost again! If you'd like a fantastic and handsome guy like me, please drop me a note at the Happy Dogs Rescue email address. I'll be sure to write you back and arrange a time for us to meet!
